Mercurial Dance is a non-profit dance organisation that delivers participatory projects, workshops and classes to young people in Coventry. Set up 2008 they’ve worked with young people in hundreds of classes, choreographed 26 performances and reached out to children in over 3900 schools. Here at 3space we’re excited to be working with them on their innovative project The Bubble Chamber.

Old hands at bringing unused spaces to life, they’re using our JJB store property in Coventry town centre as a rehearsal space for up-coming events and as a base for their Cascades project. An alternative take on the run-off-the-mill high street Christmas lights, Cascades is a digital artwork that uses motion sensors to let participants interact with an array of scenes projected out onto the street. It looks great and is definitely something to check out if you’re up near Coventry.

We’re looking forward to seeing what other plans Mercurial Dance has for the future, so watch this space!

Check out Casacades every night until the 2nd of January at 21-25 Hertford Street Coventry Town Centre. For more information on Mercurial Dance, please call them on 024 7663 1625 or visit them online at http://www.mercurialdance.co.uk/
