3Space Manchester
45,000 sq ft artist and makerspace in central Manchester
Working with landlord partners FORE, from previous project 3Space Blackfriars, 3Space managed the temporary use of 45,000 sq ft former HQ for London Scottish bank in central Manchester.
For 10 months, the building provided a home for a number of creative and community minded residents such as MCR Makerspace, Partisan Collective and The Actor’s Guild, as well as three artist collectives.
During their time at London Scottish House, 3Space hosted numerous events. Partnering with Manchester Metropolitan University and Manchester After Hours festival, the building became a gallery showing the work of 600 art and design students for their end of year exhibition.
Other events have included martial arts workshops from the Tai Chi School, immersive theatre performance from Take Back Theatre and a secret gig hosted by Sofar Sounds.
By offering the space to tenants free of charge, 3Space Manchester acted as a launch pad for many groups who can now move into a space of their own.
